How to Set Up an Auto-Apply Discount Using Tags
Auto-apply discounts allow you to automatically give a client a discount at checkout based on a tag on their profile. This is a great way to offer special pricing to specific clients without requiring them to enter a code manually.
How to create an auto-apply discount
- Go to Growth Suite > Discounts
- Click Create a New Discount

- Enter a discount code. This is mostly for your internal reference so you know where the discount is coming from
- Select which items the discount applies to (e.g., Events, Classes, or individual items)
- Set the discount percentage
- Optionally set a limit on uses per person, total number of uses, and an expiration date
Setting up the auto-apply tag
This is the key step that makes the discount apply automatically at checkout:
- Scroll down to the auto-apply tag section
- Select an existing tag from your list or create a new one by typing in the tag name
- Click on Create "tag name."
- Look for the tag again and attach the tag to the discount
- Click on "carry over" if this discount will carry over when a package renews. A disabled or expired discount will not carry over.
- If the discount is for a specific package, class, etc., make sure you leave the type
- Click Save to activate the discount

Once saved, any client who has this tag on their profile will automatically receive the discount whenever they go through the checkout flow. No code entry required on their end.
How to apply the tag to a client
- Go to the client's profile
- Click the pencil icon next to Tags

- Search for and select the auto-apply tag you created
- Click Save

Testing it out
Once the tag is on a client's profile, try booking a class or item on their behalf. You should see the discount automatically applied at checkout.

Tips
- You can use this feature for membership tiers, staff discounts, or special programs
- The tag can be added manually or through an automation to save time
- Make sure the discount is set to active before testing
