Here are some tricks to try if you are having a hard time connecting to audio on both Mobile or Web Browser:

Web Browser Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks:

Sound Check

Click

on the top left to open the settings panel and then click Sound Check. This will take you through a series of steps where you can select your mic and speak, confirm they are working, and test that music is coming through. This is the best way to test your audio before clients join the class.

Giving access to your mic

Make sure Recess has the permission to use your mic by clicking the

in your URL bar. This will open your Chrome settings where you should set both your mic and video to allow. You will need to refresh the page for the settings to take effect.

Pro tip: Everyone will need to do this the first time they join the Playground so make sure they do this too!

Playing music

When you are properly sharing music, you will see this banner at the top of your screen.

If you don't see this banner, go through the steps to share music again. If you see two or more banners, press stop on all of them and start again.

Make sure the volume is turned up on the music streaming browser and then you can adjust the volume for yourself with the volume buttons on your device.

Also, make sure you are playing music in the browser and not on the desktop app.

Pro tip: If you don't want to be close to your computer to change the song, apps like Spotify will let you play the music from the browser, but control the song from the app on your phone. Watch our how-to video here.

iPhone Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks:

If you do not hear any audio on your iPhone, check to see if silent mode is enabled by going to the top left-hand side of your iPhone. There should be a button that slides left and right. Check to see if the button is slid over to the right. By sliding the button to the right, this disables silent mode on your iPhone. Once silent mode has been disabled, you will be able to hear the audio in your classes.
