Understanding Your Menu Tabs (Client App)

The Recess client app is customized by each studio, so the tabs and sections you see may look a little different depending on where you're a member. This article walks you through every possible tab that may appear in your app and what each one does.

How the Menu Works

The app displays different tabs in the main navigation bar at the bottom of your screen. Any tabs your studio has enabled will be accessible under a Menu or sublist—typically found by tapping a menu icon in the navigation bar.

These are the tabs most commonly shown in the primary navigation:

Home — Your main landing page when you open the app. This typically shows upcoming classes, announcements, or featured content from your studio.

Schedule — View all upcoming classes, filter by date or class type, and book your spot. This is where you'll manage your reservations and cancellations.

On-Demand Videos in the Client App (represented by the play button icon in your app's navigation bar) gives you access to your studio's on-demand video library. This tab only appears if your studio has enabled and uploaded on-demand content.

At the top of the page, you'll see three filters to help you find what you're looking for:

  • All — Displays every on-demand video your studio has made publicly available, whether free, paid, or included in your membership.
  • Purchased — Shows only the videos or collections you have already bought or unlocked through your membership or package. Head here to access content you've already paid for.
  • Favorites — A personal playlist you build yourself. Any on-demand video you mark as a favorite will be saved here for quick access. If this section is empty, it simply means you haven't favorited any videos yet.

Packs — Browse and purchase membership packages, class packs, and other pricing options offered by your studio.

Messages — View notifications, direct messages from staff, and group channel updates. This tab only appears if your studio has enabled the messaging feature.

Additional Tabs (Found in the Menu Sublist)

If your studio has enabled any of the following, they'll appear when you tap the Menu option:

Profile — Access your personal account details, credit balance, class history, payment information, and more. (See our separate article on the Profile page for a full breakdown.)

Discover — Explore new content, classes, or offerings your studio wants to highlight. This is a curated space your studio uses to showcase featured items.

Explore — Similar to Discover, this section may surface additional content, challenges, or programming your studio has set up for members to browse.

Appointments — Book one-on-one sessions, personal training, consultations, or any other appointment-based services your studio offers. This tab only appears if your studio offers appointments.

Events — View and register for special events, workshops, or pop-ups hosted by your studio. This tab only appears if your studio runs events separate from its regular schedule.

A Note on Customization

Every studio configures their app differently. If you don't see a tab mentioned above, it simply means your studio hasn't enabled that feature. If you're looking for something specific — like appointments or on-demand videos — reach out to your studio directly to ask if it's available.
